Spring Volunteering at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen

Agera Energy is now in their second year working alongside the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen (HASK), the largest emergency food program in New York State, which serves over 1,000 meals every single weekday to hungry and homeless New Yorkers. We also participate in bi-annual corporate wide clothing drives. In addition to our continuous efforts with the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, we are pleased to announce that next month we will be sponsoring their annual Farm to Tray event, at which funds and awareness is raised to assist with the HASK efforts throughout the year. For more information or to see how you can contribute, visit Farmtotray.org.

Agera’s Community Service Award Presented to Kevin Cassidy

Agera celebrates its first annual Agera Cares Community Service Award by honoring Kevin Cassidy, Managing Director, for his outstanding dedication and compassion to the homeless community through his volunteering with the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen in New York City. Kevin has been a long time personal supporter of Holy Apostles and after joining Agera he quickly formed a team of volunteers to help serve meals to those in need. Today a team of Agera Cares volunteers at Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen four times a year and holds several food and clothing drives annually. Kevin’s individual efforts formed a long term relationship between Agera and Holy Apostles. His humanity regarding community outreach is infectious and admired by fellow employees and the Agera leadership team.

Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen – Fast-a-Thon 2015

Since 2014, Agera has been visiting and volunteering at the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen in New York. “We are extremely happy to contribute and volunteer our time with the Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen. When we take time out of our day to help others, it gives our team the ability to work together for a greater cause outside the office. In doing this, it not only benefits our company, it benefits our community too…”, said Wendy Smith, Manager of Customer Service.

Fast-A-Thon 2015 took place on Thursday, November 19th. Agera employees volunteered to participate and ate only one meal for the day to bring significance to the only meal that the visitors of the Soup Kitchen have daily. In conjunction with the fasting to raise awareness, we raised over $12,000 in donations for the cause!

Agera Energy Sponsors Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, Farm to Tray event

Farm to Tray is an annual celebration of food at the soup kitchen, challenging New York City chefs and high-profile culinary names from across the city to produce a Sustainable Menu with local ingredients for each dish generously provided by Whole Foods Market.

Each year the benefit attracts over 300 guests, including longtime soup kitchen supporter Susan Sarandon and Susan Ungaro, President of the James Beard Foundation. The idea for the fundraiser is firmly rooted in the approach to food that shapes the soup kitchen’s menu each week – the use of fresh locally grown produce, a commitment to nutritional balance, and the importance of providing a variety of taste and texture.

Like the soup kitchen guests who eat here every day, guests at Farm to Tray will dine in the beautiful sanctuary of the landmark Holy Apostles Church, a space that New York Times journalist and soup kitchen supporter Anna Quindlen dubbed ‘the most majestic dining room in New York City.’ And like the food served here every day, the Sustainable Menu will offer food that is locally grown, in-season, and perhaps most importantly of all, delicious.
