A small municipality in Massachusetts with a population of approximately 16,000 residents. The municipality is made up of 84 accounts, which include the town hall, the mayor’s office, the public library, and fire department in with an annual usage of 4,200,000 kWh.
City officials wanted to move away from the volatility of their utility and wished to lock in a fixed electricity rate for their municipal buildings. We approached the city and quickly established ourselves as local, hands-on energy consultants as opposed to “just another supplier”. We worked with multiple city officials and staff, including their Energy Coordinator and Director of Finance to ensure we were supplying them with the best product; a fixed full requirement plan that included 100% swing and no additional supply fees or charges.
By providing consolidated billing with the utility was also an important requirement that Agera had to meet. Other suppliers and brokers were involved in the bid, but Agera was viewed by the city as “the least salesy” and one that was looking out for their best interests.
Various rates and terms were discussed. Given historical data, the current market and the rate we were able to provide, a 36-month fixed electricity plan was selected. Agera worked diligently alongside the city attorney’s finalize and execute the contract and Agera’s terms of agreement. The city can now comfortably forecast their anticipated energy use and budget appropriately, therefore, controlling their energy spend for the next three years.
